Cheers for Trojans
CARY – For Cary-Grove’s volleyball team to even the season series against Huntley on Thursday night, the offense had to be sharp, the passes pinpoint and the execution crisp.
Fortunately for the Trojans, Jess Bart-czyszyn can do that with a mask on.
The C-G senior setter ran the show with a protective mask guarding her fractured nose during the Trojans’ showdown against the Red Raiders, and Bartczyszyn didn’t miss a step. She recorded 19 assists in the Trojans’ 25-22, 25-18 victory against the Raiders that allowed C-G to clinch at least a share of the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division title.
C-G can win its third consecutive outright title with a victory Tuesday against Dundee-Crown.
“We just wanted to come out right away with so much energy,” said Bartczyszyn, who broke her nose during practice Wednesday.
“We wanted to start talking right away, right from the beginning, and we did that.”
